Care for your ceramic coating

Protect the finish you invested in.

Simple, careful maintenance helps your coating cure properly and keeps your vehicle looking its best.

A simple routine protects the finish.

Your coating makes regular care easier. A few habits help preserve its gloss, especially while the coating settles in.

Just had your vehicle coated? ONYX recommends keeping it dry for the first 72 hours whenever possible as an extra precaution. Your first-wash date depends on the coating applied and the instructions provided with your service; the 72-hour dry-weather precaution is not a universal first-wash deadline. If rain gets on it, gently blot it dry with a clean, high-quality microfiber towel. Do not scrub.

During the cure

Protect the finish while it cures.

Water spots and unnecessary friction can affect a fresh coating. Keep the vehicle away from sprinklers and irrigation runoff, and avoid automatic washes, soap, and chemicals.

If water lands on the paint

  • Use a clean, high-quality microfiber towel.
  • Gently blot or dry with light pressure.
  • Do not scrub or rub aggressively.

Hard-water spotting

If irrigation reaches your driveway, move the vehicle temporarily if possible. If spots appear, do not scrub; contact ONYX for guidance.

Washing your vehicle

Hand wash for lasting gloss.

Wait until the first-wash date provided by ONYX for your coating. If you’re unsure of that date, contact us before washing. Coating improves cleaning and chemical resistance, but paint still needs proper wash technique.

Environmental contaminants

Remove residue gently and promptly.

Bird droppings, tree sap, and insect residue should be removed as soon as reasonably possible, especially in warmer temperatures.

To remove safely

  • Use a ceramic-safe detail spray and let it dwell briefly.
  • Gently wipe with a clean microfiber towel.

Do not

  • Scrape or dry-rub the contamination.
  • Use household cleaning chemicals.
If residue does not release easily, stop and contact us before proceeding.

Spot cleaning

Blot spots instead of scrubbing.

For minor water spots during the cure, lightly dampen a clean microfiber towel and gently blot the area. Avoid aggressive wiping.

Do not use vinegar, glass cleaners, or acidic household products. If you’re unsure, send ONYX a photo and we’ll advise you.
